Age
of
Empires
2:
Definitive
Edition
looks
set
to
be
the
next
Xbox
“exclusive”
coming
to
Sony’s
machine.
This
would
be
one
of
those
moments
where
history
comes
full
circle,
as
there
was
actually
a
PS2
port
of
the
original
game
back
in
2001
that
I
played
the
crap
out
of,
despite
not
knowing
what
I
was
doing.
And
honestly,
I
still
don’t
know
what
I’m
doing
in
Age
of
Empires
2
to
this
day,
but
I’m
having
a
good
time
nonetheless.
People
have
started
noticing
people
with
PlayStation
symbols
next
to
their
names
in
Age
of
Empires
2
multiplayer
lobbies,
indicating
that
the
game
is
being
tested.
The
two
Age
of
Empires
players
spotted
above
are
both
genuine
accounts
that
can
be
tracked
on
AOEInsights.com.
Unfortunately,
I
can’t
find
any
information
that
could
indicate
they
are
developers
or
any
more
specifics.
Of
course,
it’s
possible
this
is
some
sort
of
strange
glitch,
although
it
would
be
a
rather
peculiar
one
as
the
PlayStation
icons
couldn’t
exist
within
the
game
without
them
being
added.
However,
Age
of
Empires
2
coming
to
PlayStation
would
line
up
with
what
Tom
Warren
of
The
Verge
said
5
months
ago.
“Microsoft
has
a
busy
fall
ahead
for
Xbox,
with
Bethesda
currently
targeting
September
for
its Starfield
Shattered
Space expansion,
and Age
of
Mythology:
Retold is
tracking
for
an
early
September
release,
too,”
said
Warren
at
the
time.
“As
part
of
Project
Latitude,
Microsoft
has
also
been
considering
launching Age
of
Empires
II:
Definitive
Edition on
rival
consoles
in
early
2025,
and
its
upcoming
remastered
spinoff, Age
of
Mythology:
Retold,
could
come,
too.”
His
information
proved
to
be
true,
as
Shattered
Space
did
launch
in
September,
along
with
Age
of
Mythology:
Retold.
Given
that
he
was
correct
about
those,
it
lends
a
lot
of
weight
to
the
idea
that
Age
of
Empires
will
make
its
way
to
PlayStation
to
join
the
likes
of
Hi-Fi
Rush,
Grounded,
Pentiment
and
Sea
of
Thieves.
