Games are bloody expensive. This is not exactly a revelation. But if you’re interesting in playing Until Dawn 2, get ready for some good news: it isn’t going to cost you £70.

Pre-orders are now live for the PlayStation exclusive game about a bunch of ghost-hunting teens (who have been faking the ghost part) trapped on an island determined to kill them, and the price is a bit lower than expected: £45. Well, £44.99, if you want to be specific.

That will likely translate over to $49.99 whenever the US finally goes live.

It’s a low price point for a first-party Sony game, but not exactly unheard of. They like to play around with price-points, like Helldivers 2 for £34.99 and Astro Bot at £59.99 and even God of War: Sons of Sparta at £24.99.

£44.99 seems like a solid choice for a sequel to a liked but still niche game.

And the price-point may have been effected by the fact that Until Dawn Remastered didn’t seem to sell very well, and developer Ballistic Moon didn’t survive, finally being dissolved earlier this year. Those low numbers might have told Sony that charging full price for a sequel might not be a good plan.

And hopefully Until Dawn 2 does well and developer Firesprite doesn’t suffer a similiar fate to Ballistic Moon.
