Take-Two is reportedly shutting down 2 studios

Take-Two,
the
publishing
giant
behind
the
GTA
series,
is
reportedly
planning
on
closing
 Private
Division studios
Roll7
and
Intercept
Games
following
its
recently
announced
intent
to
lay
off
around
5%
of
its
workforce.

Jason
Schreier
of
Bloomberg

claims
to
have
been
given
access
to
documentation
which
reveals
Roll7
will
be
closed.
According
to
a
note
given
to
staff,
says
Bloomberg,
Roll7
will
be
shut
down
and
all
staff
members
will
be
offered
severance.
Roll7
is
perhaps
best
known
for
releasing
Rollerdrome
in
2022
which
did
very
well
critically.
We
never
learned
how
well
it
did
in
terms
of
sales,
though.

As
for
Intercept
Games,
the
studio
behind
the
Kerbal
Space
Program
series,
Schreier
refers
to
a

note
filed
with
the
Washington
State
Employment
Security
Department
on
Monday
.
The
note
states
that
Take-Two
plans
on
closing
an
office
located
in
Seattle
and
cut
70
jobs,
which
is
roughly
the
same
amount
of
people
employed
at
Intercept.
While
the
not
does
not
mention
Intercept
by
name,
it’s
the
only
Take-Two
branch
in
the
state.

Gameindustry.biz
reached
out
to
Take-Two
for
comment

and
received
a
nothing
reply
that
reiterated
what
was
said
last
month
about
the
company’s
restructuring
plans
but
did
not
confirm
whether
Roll7
and
Intercept
were
being
shuttered.

While
Take-Two
is
seeking
to
lay
off
a
chunk
of
its
workforce
to
cut
costs,
it’s
also
busy
spending
money.
Just
recently
it
managed
to
acquire
Borderlands
developer
Gearbox
from
the
Embracer
Group
,
right
before
Embracer
announced
plans
to
split
into
three
separate
companies
like
some
sort
of
hydra.
