Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater Announced, Plus Metal Gear Collection Vol. 1

After multiple reports that Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater would be getting remade, Konami has officially announced the existence of Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater. The brief trailer we got didn’t show much in terms of actual gameplay, instead focusing on a stylistic display of various predators getting taken down by bigger, badder predators, ending in the biggest and baddest predator of them all: Snake.

Konami issued a press release to go along with the announcement: “We are remaking Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, one of the most beloved instalments of the Metal Gear series, revealing the origin story of Snake, as Metal Gear Solid Δ: Snake Eater. We are working hard for Metal Gear Solid Δ: Snake Eater to be a faithful recreation of the original story and game design, while evolving the gameplay with stunning visuals and a seamless user experience.”

But that’s not all they announced, adding that they will be releasing the Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 which they describe as the “most complete compilation that celebrates the 35th anniversary of the series. The Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection allows fans to play the games as they were, as first released on the latest platforms.”

The package will contain the first three games and the wording makes it sound like these won’t be full remakes like Metal Gear Solid Delta. The inclusion of the Vol. 1 in the name also implies we’ll be getting another Metal Gear Solid Collection down the line, too, perhaps eventually including a re-release of Metal Gear Solid V with a few upgrades.

Although Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater was announced during the Playstation Showcase, it isn’t exclusive to Sony’s console. The remake will launch on Playstation 5, Xbox Series S/X and PC. No release date was announced.
