Worms: Galactic Tactics Brings Back Wormy Warfare In 2027

After being leaked months ago, it is now official: there’s a new Worms game.

Due out in 2027 for Xbox, PlayStation, PC and Switch 2, Worms: Galactic Tactics is a 3D turn-based game harking back to the days of Worms: Ultimate Mayhem and Worms 3D.

The brief trailer sets up a scenario where worms are being kidnapped (wormnapped?) from around the galaxy to take part in a competition at the behest of the Emperor.

This time the worms are going all roguelike, so it looks like you’ll be going on runs in the Galactic Gauntlet, described as a “multi-stage deathmatch where every battle brings new enemies, potent upgrades and fresh opportunities to cause mayhem!”

Looks like there’s also a new weapon modding system in play, too.

“Boost your Bazooka blasts, drain life with a Fire Punch, stun enemies with the Grapple, generate shields, hurl enemies through the air, buff your allies, light the map on fire, and much more! Combine mods to create loadouts that range from handy to hilarious.”

Whenever you die you can use Juice to upgrade your worms and then jump back in to try again.

Key Features

  • A fresh tactical roguelike take on Worms
  • Battle across fully destructible 3D arenas
  • Combine movement, weapons and utilities in flexible, strategic turns
  • Modify your arsenal with powerful and increasingly bombastic upgrades
  • Fight your way through a series of devious gauntlets
  • Face specialist enemy classes and champion bosses
  • Wield classic Worms weapons alongside destructive new additions like the Beambow, Meteor Sheep and Die-napple!
  • Customise your squad with dozens of hats, voicebanks and gravestones

I’m more than a little tired of roguelikes at this point, but I do love me some worms, so I’m willing to give it a shot next year.
