Once
again
a
PC
port
of
Red
Dead
Redemption
has
appeared,
sparking
hope
that
PC
owners
might
finally
get
to
experience
the
story
of
John
Marston.

Last
time
we
saw
mention
of
a
PC
version
of
Rockstar’s
classic
western
was
when
Rockstar’s
own
launcher
mentioned
it.

Some
background
code
was
discovered
which
said
the
game
was
“now
playable
on
PC.”
This
“marketing
strings”
were
the
same
style
that
Rockstar
usually
uses
for
Grand
Theft
Auto
5.

Now,
another
mention
of
the
port
has
appeared,
this
time
bizarrely
on
the
PlayStation
Store.
In
what
seems
to
have
been
an
accident,
the
store
page
for
the
game
was
updated
with
PC
specific
details

“Experience
the
epic
western
adventures
that
defined
a
generation
—
now
on
PC
for
the
first
time
ever,”
read
the
update.

“Featuring
the
complete
single-player
experiences
of
both
games,
including
bonus
content
from
the
Game
of
the
Year
Edition,
Red
Dead
Redemption
features
all
of
the
2023
console
version
upgrades
plus
PC
specific
enhancements
including
support
for
increased
resolutions
and
framerates,
multiple
displays,
and
other
accessories,
plus
spatial
surround
sound.*”

The
store
has
since
been
edited
to
remove
all
mentions
of
the
PC
version,
but
not
before
numerous
helpful
Internet
citizens
managed
to
grab
screenshots.

The
fantastic
folk
over
at
Eurogamer
also
managed
to
grab
screenshots
before
the
page
was
edited.

The
port
that
the
store
page
talks
about
is
last
year’s
release
of
Red
Dead
Redemption
which
made
the
game
natively
playable
on
PS4
and
Switch
for
the
first
time.
It
was
a
fairly
barebones
re-release
of
the
classic,
bolstered
by
a

60FPS
mode
that
was
later
added
to
the
PlayStation
version.

While
it’s
a
baffling
mistake
to
make,
the
PSN
store
being
accidentally
updated
with
the
wrong
information
seems
like
solid
proof
that
a
PC
port
is
finally
happening,
a
full
14
years
after
the
game
first
came
out.
After
all,
a
whole
PC
description
doesn’t
just
happen
without
someone
actually
writing
it
and
nobody
is
going
to
write
it
by
mistake.
So
unless
someone
managed
to
hack
into
Rockstar
or
an
employee
of
Rockstar
has
a
sick
sense
of
humour,
I’d
say
it’s
safe
to
assume
we’ll
see
Red
Dead
Redemption
on
PC
this
year.
