Nursing home battles fatal outbreak of severe stomach flu, doctors fear

“To be frank, I’ve had to take off work due to the flu,” Dr. Alaina MacLachlan, whose son Alex died in December, told CBC News.

The doctors were among hundreds of nurses who have been battling this deadly infection since Friday. The number of hospital beds in the province has been at an all-time high of 24,000.

The flu has taken on a new urgency since the beginning of the week. It is believed to have spread from a small southern Saskatchewan community to other parts of the country and now to northern communities along the Saskatchewan-Alberta border.

The outbreak has been linked to people drinking tap water contaminated by the potentially toxic sewage discharge from a municipal wastewater treatment pl바카라ant, and a nearby farm.

In some communities across northern Saskatchewan, the outbreak has raised health and safety concerns, with local health officials now declaring a state of emergency.

“This is not like any other flu situation,” said Alberta Health Minister Daria Friesen on Monday, when asked how her province and neighbouring Saskatchewan are coping with the virus.

A national alert to all provinces and territories was extended, affecting people across the nation on Monday. All of Canada’s other major cities also expanded the alert.

Health exp카지노 사이트erts fear the infection is being picked up and transmitted from person-to-person in public. The virus is not spread to people by the cough and sneeze or the droplets on the skin of a healthcare worker or patient.

“These people are in great need of immediate medical attention,” Dr. George Stannard, chair of acute medicine at the University of Saskatchewan’s Mowat Centre and one of the leading experts on the disease, told CBC News in November.

Saskatchewan is the only province with such a mandatory health alert, since it was put in place following the 2001 Pan American Health Organisation-Canadian Joint Agency Committee on Communicable Diseases recommendation.

“People need to be alert if they are being ill in their own home and to immediately call 911 and try to get to the nearest hospital,” Dr. Stannard said.

Alberta Health said it has taken measures to help people cope, and plans to raise awareness in communities where cases have been reported.

“We are working with local, provincial, territorial and national partners as we identify the local risk factors to the illness and the best ways to reduce those risks,” said Alberta Health dep카지노 사이트uty minister Mar
