Iron Man game will be open world according to a job listing and may be released on last-gen hardware

A
new
job
listing
posted
by
EA
Motive
has
seemingly
confirmed
that
the
upcoming
Iron
Man
game
will
feature
an
open
world
to
fly
around
in.

The
news
was
first
spotted
by

Geekinout

who
spotted
the
new
job
listings
posted
by
EA
Motive,
the
studio
that
was
recently
in
the
news
for
having
allegedly
cancelled
a
Dead
Space
2
remake.

The
EA
Motive
career
page
currently
lists
a
variety
of
open
positions
for
both
the
upcoming
Iron
Man
game
and
the
new
Battlefield,
with
some
roles
applying
to
both
games
and
others
focusing
on
just
one.

The
job
opening
that
caught
Geekinout
was
for

a
Senior
Technical
Artist
for
Iron
Man
.
Within
the
listing,
it
states:
“Motive
Studios
is
looking
for
a Senior
Technical
Artist to
help
oversee
the
rendering
related
aspects
of
an

open
world
action
adventure
AAA
title

Interestingly,
the
very
same
page
seems
to
indicate
that
the
game
might
come
out
on
last-gen
hardware.
Under
the
required
qualifications
section,
the
ad
says:”
Experience
working
on
current
console
platforms
(PS4/Xbox
One)
and
PC.”

It’s
odd
that
it
would
mention
this
and
not
newer
hardware,
leading
me
to
believe
Iron
Man
might
be
getting
released
on
last-gen
consoles
in
a
bid
to
increase
the
potential
audience.
Personally,
I
hope
this
isn’t
true
as
I
think
it’s
time
to
move
on
from
the
older
machines
and
focus
on
building
games
that
can
make
the
most
of
the
newer
hardware.
Maybe
I’m
just
reading
too
much
into
it.

Another
Marvel
game
from
EA
was
also

revealed
by
a
job
listing
to
be
an
open-world
project.

Cliffhanger
Games
is
currently
seeking
a
Principal
Sandbox
Designer.

“Reporting
to
the
Design
Manager,
the
Sr.
Technical
Designer
Sandbox
will
be
instrumental
in
designing
and
populating
encounters,
systems,
and
gameplay
within
a

dynamic
and
evolving
open
world,

the
advertisement
says.

Given
Iron
Man
is
capable
of
flying
around
at
high
speed,
it
makes
perfect
sense
to
build
an
open
world
for
him
to
jet
around
in.
Plus,
if
they
decide
to
emulate
Tony
Stark’s
alcohol-fuelled
comic-book
run
then
he’s
going
to
need
all
that
extra
space
so
that
he
doesn’t
crash
into
buildings.
Somehow
I
doubt
they’ll
go
the
alcoholic
route,
though.
But
can
you
imagine
if
they
did?
