PYONGYANG: A fly in fly out mine worker scheme to give those who have worked underground the chance to find alternative work in the countryside came into effect on March 30 and many former workers have applied for the scheme.

The scheme aims to provide a new starting point for those who have worked without safety equipment, like ventilation systems, in an area close to coal mines.

A total of 5,000 volunteers will be assigned to provide care for mines, with 8,000 being placed on the land in the area.

Those who have volunteered will have to live on the land and their work will not be affected.

“The pilot work is for those who have been to work in underground mines where there is no safety equipment,” said Mr Kukchavutpong, an executive director of the Thai government-approved Ministry of Human Resources Development (NHRD).

“The work can be performed only by volunteers from mining companies as well as workers who have completed compulsory t부천출장마사지raining courses.”

But not everyone is so enthusiastic about the scheme, especially in Maungdaw, a border city in the south of the country about 140km from Bangkok where thousands of mine workers still live.

Some critics believe that this scheme has failed to address safety requirements in the underground mines and that the money will be better spent on improving safety at coal mine sites.

On Saturday, at the entrance to Maungdaw, the only official way to enter the mine is to enter through a large metal gate, according to local reports. Workers said they were req경주안마 경주출장마사지uired to wear full protective equipment.

A few people are on Friday night visiting their relatives in the neighbouring province of Khon Kaen and hope to visit the mine soon.

It has been almost 50 years since coal mine workers were employed in the Maungdaw area.

On May 27 last year, an explosion in a coal mine triggered a fire which killed 30 coal workers and left 17 others injured, the government said.

Last February, another devastating accident at an underground coal mine in the south of the country left at least 23 people dead.

A number of new safety standards have been introduced following the accident.

In addition to the new safety standards, the ministry has ordered a comprehensive safety audit of all three mines, and to conduct a thorough safety survey.
