If you somehow haven’t experienced The Witcher 3 or have been looking for an excuse to replay it, maybe this will help out: The Witcher 3 is getting remastered on September 29.
It sounds like there’s a lot of effort going into The Witcher 3: Remastered. CD Projekt Red is promising that “Players can experience the entire epic adventure with upgraded visuals, enhanced combat, improved traversal and movement, new witcher signs effects, revamped mount handling, enhanced monster behaviors, a skill tree revamp, transmogrification, expanded photo mode, new finishers, and much more.”
The new version will be available on Xbox Series X/S, PS5 and PC. It’ll also be available on Switch 2. Most importantly, the upgrade is totally free if you already own the game.
And if that wasn’t enough, apparently both the Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine expansions are now also completely free for anyone who owns The Witcher 3. That’s a fucking insane deal.
All of this is, of course, in preperation for the launch of a new expansion for the game titled Songs of the Past, due to launch in 2027. The new expansion was shown off properly at GamesCom, and looks very cool. This new remaster of The Witcher 3 should bring the core game’s visuals more inline with the new content.
And then in 2028 we will get the launch of The Witcher 4, as confirmed by CD Projekt Red a few days ago.
