Steam? Steam!? Are you doing okay?
Yup, Steam seems to be having some issues at the moment. A quick check on Steam Status indicates that the Steam store and Steam Community segments are listed as “Very slow”.

Downdetector.com is also showing a sudden surge of users who have logged in to register issues with the service. At the time of writing, I can see about 4,600 reports have been filed.
Interestingly, this is the second time Steam has experienced noticeable problems in less than a week. DownDetector also recorded a substantial surge in reports on Thursday, July 9, when users attempting to access the Steam Store and Community pages were met with a “too many requests” error.
Despite the message, the problem was not caused by individual users repeatedly refreshing Steam. The outage appeared to primarily affect Steam’s website and storefront, while services such as friends lists and matchmaking remained available for many players.
Steam recovered after roughly an hour, although Valve never publicly confirmed what caused the disruption. It coincided with the final day of the Steam Summer Sale, leading to speculation that a rush of last-minute traffic may have contributed.
It’s probably actually even more good news for Steam, which has apparently broken another revenue record for the first-half of 2026. If the issues a few days ago were indeed a flood of folk buying more games, Valve is probably viewing it as another record-breaking year in the making.
Basically, don’t panic. There’s probably nothing wrong that a bit of poking, prodding and a few well-placed kicks won’t sort out on Valve’s end.
Mind you, with the games industry currently resembling a building where every room is somehow on fire at once, even the faintest flicker of fuckery over at Steam might be enough to trigger World War 3.
