Ubisoft’s
deeply
troubled
Prince
of
Persia:
Sands
of
Time
remake
briefly
appeared
at
tonight’s
Ubisoft
Forward
event,
sparking
the
briefest
moment
of
hope
that
it
might
actually
be
coming
out
soon.
It
isn’t.
Not
even
close.

What
we
got
was
a
frankly
utterly
pointless
teaser
trailer
that
lasted
a
mere
31
seconds.
In
that
trailer
we
witness
a
scenic
backdrop
and
time
gradually
rewinding.
The
smoke
from
an
extinguished
candle
slowly
spiralled
downward
until
the
candle
relit
and
then
grew
as
it
collected
all
of
its
melted
wax.
And
then
the
words
“Prince
of
Persia:
Sands
of
Time”
appeared
on
the
screen
followed
by
a
release
date
of
2026.
Yup,
Ubisoft
gave
us
a
boring
teaser
that
showed
absolutely
nothing
for
a
game
that
isn’t
even
going
to
be
out
for
another
two
years.
Speaking
on
a
blog
post
on
the
Ubisoft
website,
the
remake
is
said
to
have
entered
into
the
“full
production
phase”.
Ubisoft
studios
in
Toronto,
Bucharest,
Paris
and
Pune
are
all
aiding
Montreal
in
getting
the
game
out
the
door.
Well,
the
good
news
is
that
the
project
is
still
alive,
I
suppose.
This
remake
was
announced
back
in
2020.
It
was
supposed
to
launch
in
January
of
that
year,
but
following
poor
feedback
on
its
reveal
trailer
Ubisoft
decided
to
delay
its
release,
and
eventually
even
shifted
development
to
Ubisoft
Montreal
in
2022.
We
last
heard
about
the
game
at
the
end
of
last
year
when
Ubisoft
wanted
to
remind
everyone
that
it
was
still
coming
and
had
entered
into
the
conception
phase,
indicating
that
the
game
was
quite
a
ways
off.
Since
then
though,
two
entire
Prince
of
Persia
games
have
released
in
the
form
of
the
excellent
Prince
of
Persia:
The
Lost
Crown
and
The
Rogue
Prince
of
Persia.
