The
official
unveiling
of
the
long-awaited
Nintendo
Switch
2
was,
rather
obviously,
the
focal
point
of
today’s
trailer,
but
we
did
happen
to
get
a
glimpse
at
a
single
game:
Mario
Kart.
Dare
we
assume
Mario
Kart
9?
I
say
we
do
dare.
The
brief
look
we
get
at
the
game
in
action
clearly
shows
that
it
is
not
Mario
Kart
8,
unless
it
turns
out
to
be
some
sort
of
new
DLC
pack.

We
see
Mario
and
pals
racing
around
what
seems
to
be
a
brand
new
desert
track,
with
a
Yoshi
fast-food
joint
in
the
background.
The
trailer
shows
12
racers
as
per
normal
for
Mario
Kart
8,
but
when
the
start-finish
line
appears
there
seems
to
be
enough
starting
grid
slots
for
24
karts.
The
final
shot
of
the
game
also
appears
to
show
far
more
than
just
12
racers
duking
it
out
for
first
place.
A
final
detail
worth
noting
is
that
Donkey
Kong
looks
a
bit
different,
more
closely
resembling
his
movie
counterpart
from
The
Super
Mario
Bros.
Movie.
If
this
is
indeed
Mario
Kart
9,
then
it’ll
be
the
first
Mario
Kart
game
released
in
over
a
decade.
And
considering
its
inclusion
in
the
Switch
2
reveal
trailer,
it
seems
safe
to
say
Mario
Kart
9
will
be
a
launch
game.
