Destiny 3 Claimed To Be In “Early” Stages of Development

Destiny 3 may be in the early stages of development, according to a reliable insider/dataminer known as Colony Deaks who has a consistently strong track record when it comes to all things Destiny.

“Yes, Destiny 3 is in extremely early development,” said Colony Deaks. “Some of you may have seen a tweet early this afternoon that mentioned that. We have been sitting on the info for a few weeks now and wanted to wait to talk about this seeing as it is in such an early state, and it just sucks to see others post about it carelessly for free internet points. We plan to share more info in the coming months as we wait on the larger scale things to develop and take shape. Sit tight.”

As you see, Deaks claims to have had this information for a few weeks but was intending on keeping it quiet until more was known. However, some tweet or report – which I haven’t managed to find – which referenced Destiny 3 spurred Deaks into action.

Whatever the case may be, Destiny 3 is seemingly in the early stages of development. This probably isn’t surprising news as Destiny 2’s player counts have been dwindling, and while each new expansion has brought jumps in the player count, it hasn’t really been enough.

As for developer Bungie, they are sitting in dangerous territory right now. Just recently, Sony had to issue an impairment loss against Bungie. And it feels like the community currently has the lowest amount of love and respect for Bungie that it has ever had. It’s still dealing with yet another plagiarism case, internal management problems and the delay of its next game, Marathon.

So will we be seeing Destiny 3 anytime soon? Probably not. If it’s in the “early” stages of development, then the game is probably at least 3 years away. Of course, it depends entirely on what “early” in this context means.
