Insomniac’s Wolverine Game Gets Gory Trailer And Release Window

As per the rumours leading up to it, this week’s State of Play saw Insomniac Games finally pop the claws on Marvel’s Wolverine, giving us a look at the wonderfully gory gameplay. We can look forward to playing it in Fall 2026.

Liam McIntyre was revealed as the actor behind Wolverine, and his gravelly voice certainly seems to suit the Marvel icon. We also get a glimpse of Mystique makes an appearance, too.

“Our Wolverine, AKA Logan, is played by actor Liam McIntyre who taps into the rage, pain, and nuances of this iconic character,” reads the official blog post. “In this story, he is on the hunt to uncover the secrets of a dark past that keeps eluding him. Unfortunately, in this world, he’ll have to dig his claws deep to pull any shred of information that may lead to answers. Often, that means shredding into a relentless onslaught of enemies who aim to stop him by any means necessary. Fueled by unflinching resilience (and a rapid healing factor), Wolverine won’t go down easy if it means keeping the mission on task.”

Insomniac have kept their Spider-Man games family-friendly, so I was happy to see how deliciously bloody the gameplay trailer was, right down to Wolverine slicing a dude in half. This is the violence a Wolverine game needs.

The trailer also contains some genuinely badass lines that feel exactly like something Wolverine would say, like “Deaths’ always waitin’, just not for me” and “‘Cause I ain’t no hero. I’m Wolverine.”

The PlayStation blog reveals a few other useful details, including how Wolverine will journey to Japan, a country with a lot of significance to the character.

Finally, we got a release window for the game: Fall 2026 for PS5.
