The Blood Of Dawnwalker Won’t Have 60FPS Support On Console

September is mere weeks away, which means our bank accounts are mere weeks away from being decimated. One of the big releases is, of course, The Blood of Dawnwalker from Rebel Wolves, the team full of former Witcher 3 devs. With the launch imminent, the team have dropped some new console performance information, and surprisingly there will be no 60fps performance mode.

The game will offer two graphics modes on both PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. There’s a fancy Quality Mode that aims for 30FPS and a dynamic 4K resolution. Then there’s Balanced Mode where you’d normally expect to find Performance Mode. Balanced Mode offers up 40FPS and the same dynamic 4K resolution.

40FPS is a bit of a weird option, because it doesn’t usually work on a regular 60Hz TV. To function properly, the TV needs to support 120Hz.

What about PS5 Pro? No 60FPS there either, it seems. Instead, you have the same two modes but with “enhanced visual quality” across both. Whatever that means.

Unsurprisingly, the lack of 60FPS support has riled folk up. I admit, I’m a little surprised. I’ll almost always choose a performance mode for the smoother gameplay experience. 30FPS now feels like a step backward. Ah well. It should still be good.

The Blood of Dawnwalker is set to walk onto consoles and PC on September 3rd where it will do battle with a release calender so packed that it’ll give you clausterphobia. It looks pretty epic.
