[MUSIC PLAYING] My name is Chris Carrabba, and I'm in the band Dashboard Confessional And we're here at Alt 105

Well, I got started kind of the old fashioned way, just playing in people's basements and living rooms and touring that way for a long time And I think I probably did maybe 2,000 shows before I ever played a real club So I guess the idea with this record was to have a real feeling of immediacy So I would write a song in my basement and then almost immediately as soon as it was finished I would record it, knowing full well that it wouldn't necessarily be the best version I cared less about that than finding the version that was most connected to the moment of inspiration

So a lot of what you hear on the record is like five minutes after the song was written My favorite games have been all the Tony Hawk games And then we got into this weird, like, Dance Dance Revolution period on the bus after shows for awhile It was just a weird way, like, with our friends that were only going to see us that night We could go to the bar, but first we're going to do this
