Call Of Duty: Black Ops 7 European Sales Are 63% Lower Than Battlefield 6

Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 isn’t having a good time, it seems. There was already some suspicion after the initial Steam player counts seemed low compared to last year’s entry, but now we’ve got some confirmation of exactly how bad it might be.

According to the latest European sales data, as reported by Christopher Dring of The Game Business, Black Ops 7 has sold 63% less copies in its opening week than Battlefield 6 achieved during its launch week in October.

Let’s do some quick math: we know that Battlefield 6 sold 7 million copies in its first week, so if the GSD sales data is correct, that puts Black Ops 7 at roughly 4.4 million copies sold.

On top of that, The Game Business also claim’s that it’s “also down by more than 50% over last year’s Call of Duty: Black Ops 6.”

If that’s true, that’s a massive drop in sales for the brand. It’s not enough to declare the franchise dead or anything – it has suffered big sales drops before – but it’s still a massive deal for a franchise that has often been considered too big to fail.

As for Battlefield 6, it’s currently the best-selling game of the year in the US according to Circana.

Even with a sales drop, though, Black Ops 7 is handily leading the European sales chart. Call of Duty is a franchise that commands millions of players, after all, even when it isn’t at its strongest.

2nd place is something of a surprise:  Anno 117: Pax Romana, from Ubisoft. It’s awesome to see a strategy game doing so well.
