Australians are more diverse than people thought, with a rise in Australia’s indigenous populations from 16 per cent in 2000 to 20 per cent last year, researchers have found.

The number of indigenous Australians in Australia, according to Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) data, is almost six times greater than the to더킹카지노tal of all Australians.

The ABS figures revealed a rise in the number of people of indigenous origin from 708,000 to 1.2 mill바카라사이트ion people in 2016.

That comes after growing numbers of Australians of Indian and Pacific Islander origin were admitted to the country’s immigration process over the past decade.

But it shows that the indigenous population has grown dramatically, with the population of Aboriginals falling from 4.7 per cent of population in 2000 to 1.4 per cent in 2016.

That also means more Aborigines are in Australia, particularly in metropolitan areas, and is in stark contrast to some Australian communities which are increasingly mixed and diverse, particularly the urban and remote north-west.

Prof Steven Smith from the University of New South Wales told the ABC the new numbers showed Australians were growing up and making their mark in the world.

“They’re people who are in an age where they have a really strong capacity to make a contribution to the community,” he said.

Professor Smith said the rise in population of indigenous Australians was mainly a consequence of the arrival of Australian Aborigines in the country.

“They’ve arrived in Australia, we’ve settled down, the culture and way of life, the people that have come here, have assimilated and that’s probab바카라사이트ly a key driver,” he said.

“A big part of that is that they have not been told they’re not accepted and then they’ve been told they’re accepted.

“The biggest shift in the population of Australia is in terms of Aboriginal peoples who are in the Australian population.”
